International Ministry

International Missions Major

The International Missions major provides specialized preparation needed by prospective Christian missionaries. Our firm conviction is that the great task of the Church is world evangelization. The majority of Protestant missionaries today are graduates of Bible institutes/colleges. The special burden of Crossroads is to train American minorities for missions. This major familiarizes students with global need, the biblical basis and purpose of missions, the varieties of work missionaries do, cross-cultural insights, etc. Because over half of the world's peoples live in urban areas, the International Missions major focuses on preparation for effective ministry in cities. Upon completion of this program the student will be able to:

  1. Explain and defend a biblical philosophy for worldwide discipleship.
  2. Give expression to a personal and potential role in missionary service.
  3. Pursue the viable steps that will place one in an international ministry.
  4. Confidently face the difficulties of living and ministering cross-culturally and in large cities.
  5. Demonstrate basic skills in evangelism, discipleship, church planting, interpersonal relationships, and strategy formulation.
  6. Articulate historical and contemporary trends in world missions.
  7. Respond to the spiritual, political, economic, and vocational crises in missions.
