Dr. Eckel is a featured speaker, and writer on faith-learning integration, worldview, culture, film, critique, apologetics, education, curriculum development, instructional methodologies and Gothic horror novels. Mark’s original curricula Let God Be God: The Nature and Characteristics of God and Timeless Truth: An Apologetic for the Reliability, Authenticity, and Authority of Scripture have served the Christian school movement around the world. In 2006 Mark consulted with Chuck Colson to produce a curriculum for high school students called Rewired. Since then he has produced both online and print curricula for various ministries. Mark’s book The Whole Truth: Classroom Strategies for Biblical Integration has helped thousands of Christian school teachers practice biblical integration in their classrooms.
Intégrité has recently published four of Mark’s scholarly journal articles including essays on faculty evaluation in higher education, adult learning, Hebrew ideals of education, and reflections for the schoolyard from the graveyard. Mark has also contributed a chapter to Four Perspectives on Your Child’s Education (Broadman & Holman, 2009). Dr. Eckel presented two papers in 2010. At the C.S. Lewis Conference at Taylor University Mark delivered a manuscript entitled, “Devils in My Heart: Chesterton’s View of Human Nature through Father Brown.” At the International Institute for Christian Studies Dr. Eckel spoke on “And the Nations Will Say: Apologetic Testimony from an Unlikely Source.” Mark has made contributions to Ignatius Press including essays on Sense and Sensibility, Red Badge of Courage, and poetry from the Romantics. Mark writes book and movie reviews, essays, and audio-blogs for Moody Radio. He continues work on a Christian critique of Gothic horror novels such asFrankenstein.
