To Glorify God by Training Christian Leaders to Reach a Multiethnic Urban World for Christ

At Crossroads Bible College, we believe that people who are committed to and dependent upon Christ are what’s most important about any educational institution. It’s with this conviction in mind that we’ve created this Crossroads Bible College series Getting to Know… Today we get to know one of our CBC faculty/staff, Marcus Schrader, who serves as Dean of Administration.

CBC: “It’s great to connect with you, Marcus. How long have you worked at Crossroads Bible College and in what capacity/role(s)?”

MS: “I am in my 8th year at CBC and I have been involved in the Admissions and Enrollment office, the CROSS Program, Registrar’s Office, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs. I am currently the Dean of Administration which includes being the Academic Dean and overseeing Student Affairs.”

CBC: “What first attracted you to ministry at CBC?”

MS: “Hearing Dr. Ware speak and learning about his vision and the vision of Crossroads which is ‘training Christian leaders to reach a multi-ethnic urban world for Christ.’”

CBC: “Please tell our readers a bit more about your typical day or week at CBC.”

MS: “A typical day would be getting into my office as early as 6:30 a.m. or as late as 9:30 a.m. depending on what responsibilities I might have in the evening at the College. I spend my time responding to e-mails, sending e-mails, making phone calls, taking phone calls, preparing for meetings, attending meetings, and leading meetings. I interact with students, staff, and faculty frequently throughout each day which is something I really enjoy about my job. I usually eat lunch with either a student or staff member and then I leave for home as early as 5:00 p.m. or as late as 9:30 p.m.”

CBC: “What do you most enjoy about your ministry role at CBC?”

MS: “What I most enjoy is working with people and being able to influence people’s lives for Christ and for eternity.”

CBC: “So, give us your ‘elevator speech’: What’s your 30 second or 30-to-50 word summary that captures the essence of Crossroads Bible College? Or, what’s your 30 second or your 30-to-50 word summary of why a student should consider attending CBC?”

MS: “2 Timothy 2:15 states that all believers should, ‘Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.’ What better way to reach this goal than by attending Crossroads Bible College where each class and each professor will help you be able to ‘correctly handle the word of truth.’ A secular education will not help you in this endeavor; neither will a liberal religious institution. Crossroads will pour into your life so that you ‘do not need to be ashamed.’”

CBC: “What church do you attend and in what ministry area(s) do you serve?”

MS: “I attend New Palestine Bible Church where I am an elder/lay pastor, children’s S.S. teacher, and a Small Group leader.”

CBC: “Do you have a favorite Bible verse or passage that has been meaningful in your life? Why does it mean so much to you?”

MS: “2 Timothy 2:2 would be one of my life verses where the Apostle Paul says to Timothy, ‘You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.’ I want to be part of this process that has been going on for close to 2,000 years. Men and women who have been taught the truths of God’s Word passing these truths on to others who will in turn do the same.”

CBC: “How can people be praying for you in your ministry at CBC?

MS: “Pray for wisdom and strength to meet the challenges of each day.”

CBC: “Tell us a bit about your family…”

MS: “I have been married to Jennifer for over 17 years and we have 6 children. We educate our children at home which provide many opportunities for growth for all involved. Both my wife and I are close to our respective families and we thank God for all the blessings we have in life.”

CBC: “What do you like to do for fun?”

MS: “I like to spend time with family and friends. I also like to play sports, watch sports, and read. I enjoy traveling, going on vacation, and doing most anything outdoors.”

CBC: “Is there anything else that you’d like people to know about you, your ministry at CBC, or about CBC?”

MS: “I would like people to know that the God of the Bible is the only true God and He most perfectly revealed truth to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, as recorded in the Scriptures. There is no other name, under heaven, given among men whereby we must be saved! Jesus is the only way, the only truth, and the only life and no one can get to the Father, but through Him. Praise be to God!”

CBC: “Thank you so much, Marcus, for making the time to help our readers get to know more about you and your ministry at Crossroads Bible College.”
